Toricxs HTML Help: General Program Design

On this page you are explained the basics of Toricxs’ GUI and core design.

Ok, now let’s focus on the scheme Toricxs renames your mp3/wma/wav files. Generally the renaming is made within 12 steps. You browse through the steps using the ‘Back’ and ‘Next’ commands (4). Sometimes you cannot continue to the next step as there’s some special operation to be done by you, in this case the ‘Next’ command is disabled. Look at its caption (the text on the button), it tells you what is to be done. The current step and a short description is displayed within the StepLabel (3). At this location you can also see info messages from time to time.

The main window’s structure does hardly change from step to step, there is always the main area (5) where you do the step-specific configurations and operations. Besides the main area there are the Start Station commands (7), allowing you to start any external program , for instance another mp3 tool program, or you use the Start Station to easily browse your mp3 directories (to check the status of the files during the renaming), just like the Windows Quick Launch bar.

Here’s the Quick Play window, allowing to play any of the mp3 files you are cleaning up. For the playback your original player associated with mp3 files is used, Toricxs does not have an internal player. Playing mp3 files does not influence the renaming process in any way.

Opening the Quick Play window works either through pressing Ctrl-Q or you click on the related item of the Main Menu. You open the Main Menu through pressing the related button (1) located in the main window. The Main Menu provides you, besides opening the Quick Play window, many further functions, like centering windows, enabling the extended help system, setting program options, an undo function (usable in steps 5 to 11, just click to undo the last larger TAG data change) and changing the current skin. Apropos skin, you should know that Toricxs has a really unique skinning system. Forget XML, expensive graphics programs and much work, here you create or manipulate a skin through menu clicks. A click on the Skin Engine Menu button (2) allows you to do so. Over this menu you can change the current skin’s fore- and back color, it’s default font, you can change the window region (i.e. you can create windows of any shape) and much, much more... Once you created your own skin you can export it so that also your friends can see it. Please read the text files in the program directory for further information.

But for all the skinning abilities we don’t want to forget the main function of Toricxs, that is to clean up your music files. If you ever need help, then:

  • reading this HTML help (on www.toricxs.com and in the sub directory of Toricxs)
  • enabling the extended help system (via Main Menu or press Ctrl-Shift-h)
  • requesting context help for one single control

For context help, press the ContextHelp button (8) so that the mouse pointer changes from an arrow to an error with an attached question mark. If you then click on any control the ContextHelp window will open and display the requested help text. When having read the text click on the ‘X’ button on the top right corner of the help window to close it again.
