Toricxs HTML Help: Step 10 - File Name Editing

In step 10 you can change future file/directory names like in your Windows-Explorer.

Welcome to step 10, one step before the final cleaning. To verify that your new collection will become exactly (!) like you want you have the opportunity to view it in an Explorer-like preview. Like in the Windows-Explorer you have the directory tree at the left (1) and you are shown the files of the currently selected directory together with file-specific size and changing date at the right (2). And also like in the Explorer you can rename files and directories. Therefore mark a file/directory by left-clicking on it once and then click it again. Enter the new name and press Return.

It is also possible to work with drag and drop within the directory tree (1). You can drag any directory at the lowest level over to a directory with the next higher level. The drag & drop is sometimes usable if you are too lazy to type. Example:

Here someone misspelled Roxette. As the right spelling exists besides the wrong one you can drag the album directory (lowest level) of the misspelled artist over to the right artist (next higher level).

Please note: at this point of time it is not possible to create custom directories (sorry, did not work reliably). If you want to retain a special directory structure like visible the left side (the picture with gray background)...

...then you should clean up the files of every person separately. That means you start Toricxs three times, the first time you add in step 1 all (uncleaned) directories of Cathleen and in step 8 you create a new configuration named ‘Cathleen’s’. Then set the output directory to e.g. C:\Media\MP3s\Cathleen’s MP3s\%artist%\%album%\. The output dir data will be saved in the configuration ‘Cathleen’s’. After having renamed the files restart Toricxs (or go directly back to step 1, cleaned up scan dirs will be removed automatically) and add the (uncleaned) directories of Jack. Then attention! In step 8 you create another configuration called ‘Jack’s’. Then set the output dir to e.g. C:\Media\MP3s\Jack’s MP3s (strange!)\%artist%\%album%\. Rename the files and go back to step 1. Repeat the whole procedure a third time, this time add the dirs of ‘Louis’ (me), create a new configuration in step 8 and rename the files.

Next time you want to write files to one of the three persons’ directories you can just select the related configuration in step 8 and don’t have to enter a new output path.

After having verified the appearance of your new collection press the ‘Next’ button to continue to step 11.
