In step 5 you can perform a ‘spelling error check’.
Most of you may know this problem: Some people just can’t write song- and artist names
right! For instance, look at that:
[Someone wrote ‘Alishia’ instead of ‘Alicia’ (one line below the marking)]
You surely don’t want to have such spelling errors in your final,
cleaned-up collection. Therefore clean up your files with Toricxs, because only this program provides you the ability to perform a ‘spelling error check’ to find faulty artist- and song names. The checking bases on
the idea that misspelled names are mostly similar in appearance
and thus can be filtered out with a suitable algorithm. Your task is just to tell Toricxs IF there’s an error in the filtered files, and if there is, WHAT song/artist name is the one spelled correctly.
So let’s perform such a spelling error check. First choose
what you want to check here (1) and then press the check-button (2). After a while you are listed some song or artist names in the error list (3). Toricxs thinks that all these names are misspelled, except one.
You now check if there’s a spelling error. If no, press the ‘Ignore’-button in the button bar (5). If yes, then double-click on the correct item. If all items in the error list are misspelled then enter the
correct song/artist name into the text box (4) and press ‘Change’ (5). If there are misspelled items in the error list but also one that hasn’t anything to do with the current spelling error then mark this item
through clicking once on it, press the right mouse button and choose ‘Exclude’. Repeat this action until there is only one correct and the one or more incorrectly spelled items in the list. Then double click on the
correct item. All song/artist names listed in the error list will be changed to the double-clicked or entered value.
Of course you must know how the song- and artist names are
to be spelled, if you don’t then you can right-click into the error list and select ‘count...’ from the opened pop up menu. You will then be displayed the frequency of the appearance of every spelling in your
collection. The more frequently, the higher the possibility that an item is spelled correctly.
Some examples:
Here you double-click on ‘Alice Deejay’ or you press ‘Change’
after having marked ‘Alice Deejay’, as this is the correct spelling (you should know, if you didn’t then you’d press ‘Ignore’ ;-P ).
In this a case first exclude ‘Alanis Morissette’ as it has
nothing to do with the original spelling error. After that double click on Alice Deejay’ as this is spelled correctly.
The overview list (6) displays ALL artist/song names. There you can change
ANY song/artist name manually (right-click on it and select ‘edit...’) or you play a randomly chosen file
by a marked artist/with the selected song name (if you wanna listen to music, see right-click menu). But there’s a further function of the overview list (6). If you found e.g. ‘Alice Di-jay’ in that list and want to change this artist name together with ‘Alice Deejay’ and ‘Alice Dee-jay’ (see screen shot above) then just drag over the ‘Alice Di-jay’ item to the error list. But usually all similar spelled items are listed in the error list automatically, you don’t have to drag anything over (pooh!).
When you think you removed all errors then continue to step 6 :-)
