Toricxs HTML Help: TAG Edit Window

The TAG edit window allows an extended TAG editing with mass-change function.

On this page you’ll get information about the TAG Edit window. The window allows you to just edit a file’s new TAG, or to edit the TAG and to do a mass-change of equal TAGs.

When you have marked a file in the large list of step 9 and have selected ‘edit [tag item] (extended)’ then the TAG Edit window opens allowing you to edit the TAG of the selected file.

In general, you can edit the file’s new TAG (that will be written in step 11) at the left side (1). Besides you’re shown the old (uncleaned, current) TAG (2), which you cannot edit but compare to the cleaned-up TAG (here you can often see how well Toricxs works ;-) ). When you’ve edited a TAG then you can either just save it and close the TAG Edit window (4), save it and change all TAGs for which you can do the same changes like done with the current one (3) or you can cancel and close the window (5) (the save buttons are only enabled if there are changes to save). At bottom of the window you get information about the current file (current and future path, size and last access time (7) as well as additional, Toricxs-related information, i.e. if the file is to be moved or copied, if it will be deleted as it is doubled and if the new file name is equal to the old one (if the file will stay unchanged in appearance) (8)).

Back to the TAG editing, when can you do the same changes like done with the current file to other TAGs, and how does this work?

Well, let’s take a look at the following example:

There is several times the artist ‘Alishia Keys’ in your collection and you want to change all these artist names into ‘Alicia Keys’ (the correct spelling). Therefore you open the TAG edit window for ONE file, change one or more TAG items (here: the artist name) and press the ‘Save with AutoChange’ button. Toricxs will then seek all files that contain the same TAG item like the one you changed. So for this example, Toricxs seeks all files that have the artist name set to ‘Alishia Keys’. These files are then displayed in the change list (2). When you press the ‘Change Displayed Files’-button (3) then Toricxs will do the just done change to all displayed files (here: setting the artist name to ‘Alicia Keys’). After the changing the TAG Edit window will be closed automatically. The change list (2) displays alternately both the current and the possibly changed appearance of the files that can be automatically changed (the current appearance for 1 second and the possibly changed one for 0.5 seconds). In the picture you can see how the year ‘’ was changed into ‘~’98’.

[the list displayes alternately ‘’ and ‘~’98’]

When you or Toricxs closes the TAG Edit window then you can continue checking your files in the large list of step 9.
